Easy Ham Radio Arrow Antenna Mount for Tripod

I saw lots of DIY’s on how to better mount the antenna to the tripod but none quite fit what I wanted. I finally thought up this solution and it was so crazy easy I thought I’d share. It’s so much easier to handle my antenna now!!

What You Need:

  • Dual Camera mount
  • Drill and drill bit (7/32″)
  • Wing nuts and bolt (M4-0.70 mm, about 1.25″/32mm long)

The Idea:

Using the mount, drill holes in the antenna rod and fix with nuts and bolt. Slide mount back and forth to distribute weight if accessories added.

Three steps:

Buy a dual camera mount and slowly unscrew the two screws that would be used for end cameras.

  1. Unscrew the screws that come for cameras from the mount. It’ll take some wiggling and has to be direct up and down, but they will screw right out.

2. Drill a hole through the antenna rod. The rod gives way pretty easily and I aimed to place the mount toward the bottom where a longer stretch of clear space was. Also, keep in mind that you can slide this mount should you have more weight at bottom and so place the screws accordingly.

3. Attach to rod using bolt and wingnut.
